A 23-year-old man was charged with murder in Magistrate's Court yesterday. Shanfano Dean appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis charged with the murder of Jerone Thompson on March 28.
According to initial police reports, shortly before 10pm on the night in question, two men were at a home on Albury Street, Chippingham, when they got into an altercation. The argument escalated and one man was shot. He was taken to hospital where he was listed in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.
During the hearing, Dean was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to August 11 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
Bail was denied and the defendant was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
