113 Haitians Deported By Immigration Dept

MORE than 100 Haitian migrants were deported to Haiti yesterday.

A press release from the Department of Immigration noted that a joint team of law enforcement officers left the Inagua International Airport at 10.10am yesterday en-route to Port-au-Prince, Haiti with 113 Haitian nationals under deportation order onboard a Bahamasair flight.

The initial group onboard this flight from New Providence included 54 males, 17 females and four minors. They were joined by 26 males, 11 females and one minor who boarded in Matthew Town, Inagua. The latter group was apprehended on December 7 by the combined efforts of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Royal Bahamas Police Force, Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos Islands (OPBAT), and the United States Coast Guard in waters off south of Inagua.

The Department of Immigration said it will continue its commitment to carrying out the mandates of the agency "to combat illegal migration by establishing effective border control management" in compliance with the country's laws.

Pathetic! Less than three hundred and fifty (350) deportations to Haiti since Hurricane Dorian while we have thousands and thousands of illegal Haitian aliens roaming around plain sight in the Bahamas today.

We are literally swimming backwards because we all know full well there have been many more than 350 new Haitians who have illegally arrived on our shores since Hurricane Dorian. We need to get much more aggressive in rounding them up and deporting them back to Haiti on a sustained basis while at the same time significantly beefing up our Defense Force's ability to provide much greater assistance to the U.S. Coast Guard in intercepting these invaders at sea.

A couple of things need to be clarified. Firstly, is the Bahamas government still rewarding illegal Haitian migrants $300.00 each for being caught and deported?

Secondly, which of the three previous jackass prime ministers thought it was a good idea to give illegal Haitians the equivalent of a year's salary in Haiti for being caught breaking our immigration laws?

This is a good example of why we need a freedom of information act to keep these self-serving politicians inline!

Lastly, when will this government stop pussyfooting around and focus on stopping the demand for illegals by punishing businesses for hiring them?
