A JURY was empanelled in the Supreme Court yesterday, moments after a man pleaded not guilty to having sex with a nine-year-old girl and taking a picture of the incident.
Charges of sexual intercourse and child pornography were read to Edward Butler, 64, as his trial opened.
It is claimed that he committed these acts, between November 9, 2009 and January 8, 2010.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
A jury made up of seven women and two men was empanelled before the case was adjourned to give newly appointed defence counsel, Raymond Rolle, time to review documents and receive instructions from his client.
The trial starts today before Justice Vera Watkins.
Darnell Dorsett and Charles Newbold are prosecuting the case for the Crown.
